Ibis Sheung Wan and Central - Hong Kong

This hotel was just opened back in September 2012. Everything in the room feels new. Who knows, we could be even the first guests to use that room !! We got a standard room on 30th floor with view to mountain and neighboring buildings. Room was bigger than expected. There was a custom built-in desk/clothes hanging area. Enough room to put our two medium size suitcases.

The floor surprisingly was a darker shade laminate floor. It has the look of hard wood but more durable. I think it is a new trend with hotels in Asia. This trip to Asia all the hotels we stayed in all featured wood-looking laminate floor.

The closest MTR station is Sheung Wan which is around 700 m (10 minutes walk). If you're dragging suitcases with you from the airport, take the Airport Express which will bring you all the way to Central station. And from there just grab a taxi to the hotel. We took a taxi from Wan Chai (about 3 stations away from Sheung Wan) and it only cost about HKD35 (USD5).

The hotel provided basic amenities like coffee maker, towel, soap, shampoo, room slipper and hair dryer. The price we paid didn't include breakfast so we couldn't review that part. There were a few convenience store just steps away so one could grab a quick sandwich and drink. Good news for Starbucks fans, there's going to be one opened on the ground floor of the hotel. Looking for something heavier ? Queen Street cooked food market is just around the corner. This is like a small food court with a few stalls that sell Thai/Vietnamese food, Chinese food and also Indian food. We didn't give any of those a try so couldn't recommend any.
