John's Deli - San Francisco
We heard about this place on a tv show. It was frequented by people working in the area because it offers good Korean food and decent price as well. But we never had a chance to try it because it only opens on weekdays. Last week we had a chance to be in the city on a weekday and we thought we really needed to give it a try.
Hubby went earlier to beat the lunch crowd. It’s a tiny place and it’s more for a place to do take-out. We found a nice 'picnic' area under the sun and opened our take out boxes. We got spicy pork bento and barbecue chicken. Each pack came with a tiny container of kimchee, a side of greens and two slices of orange.
The spicy pork looked more appetizing due to the reddish color on it. While the barbecue chicken looked pale compared to the pork. Both were well marinated and taste fine. Nothing stood out.
Each lunch box cost around $9. Quite a good value for SF Financial District. We would probably give it another try if we have a chance.
