Glow Pratunam - Bangkok, Thailand

On this trip to Asia, we planned to meet up with some friends in Thailand for the celebration of Songkran (Thai new year). So instead of flying straight to Jakarta, Indonesia, we did our first stop in Bangkok. Upon hearing that, our friend suggested that we stayed over night at Glow Pratunam Hotel which was conveniently located close to the Platinum Mall, a popular shopping mall for visitors to Bangkok.

The hotel signage was not very obvious but look for the sign for Shibuya Glow instead. The lobby of the hotel is located on 7th floor of the Shibuya Glow mall. The taxi driver was told to take the other entrance to make around the building and dropped us off on a little entrance on the side of the Shibuya Glow. There was a bell boy waiting and took care of our suitcases. Btw, the taxi trip from Suvarnabhumi airport cost about 470 (including tips and toll).

We got a deluxe  room on the 17th floor and we could see the Platinum Mall from our window. We waited for about 5 minutes for our suitcases to be delivered. Then with off we went to look for lunch and checked out the mall.
The whole order (from right to left) : rad na, pork basil with rice (top) and stewed pork leg with rice

That night we decided to stay in and ordered room service instead. The menu offered both local and western fares. We ordered rad na (rice noodle with gravy), pad  (rice with basil pork),  (rice with braised pork feet). The food was delivered within 15 minutes and they came with an array of condiments like chopped garlic, chili, powdered chili, sugar, soy sauce, etc.

The food was very good and the price was very decent. We spent about $13 for 3 dishes.

Tips :
Most drivers don't speak English well. Make sure to have the hotel address written in Thai. We make our booking through Agoda and the hotel voucher has the address in both English and Thai.

Our taxi driver wanted the fare from Suvarnabhumi airport around 500 baht instead of using meter. But in the end it cost about 400 baht (without tips).
