Konjoe Burger - San Jose
pork belly sandwich |
Surprisingly though the weather was not exactly friendly, the place was pretty packed. Street parking was hard to come by. So I went down to do a take out. There are two buildings that housed the San Pedro Square Market and I got lost for a bit. Konjoe Burger is located at the building at the corner of Almaden and W St. John.
There are quite a few restaurants, sports bar, wine bar, coffee shop, etc in that market place. Definitely worth going back just to get the feel. Prices are more on the higher side though. We got 2 sandwiches and 1 fries for almost $30.
Now, let’s talk about the food itself. The pork belly sandwich that I ordered consisted of 3 pieces of pork belly and lots of sweet sauces. The pork belly was cooked till tender and then pan fried crispy and served with lettuce. The sweet sauce tasted like barbecue sauce though I’m sure it’s not.
The chicken sandwich had this generous size fried chicken with topping like pickle and shredded cabbage. In general I like the chicken sandwich better than the pork belly because it had more complex flavor.
The fries was crispy and seasoned. Towards the end it tasted almost like chips. You don’t need much seasoning or ketchup with this fries.
