Japan Trip Day 6 : Shibuya, Yoyogi Park and Shinjuku

Lunch at Genki Sushi
We started the day at Hachiko statue outside the JR station of Shibuya. It was still just before 9 and the morning shower sort of delaying the other tourists from coming out early. We continued across the street to Starbucks.

Posting about our breakfast at Starbucks can be found here.

While at Starbucks I found out that there was a Donquijote or Donki just around the corner. So left our seats at Starbukcs and found our way there. Donki is a good place to get your fill of souvenirs. They usually dedicated the ground floor just for souvenirs. And then if you have more time to spare you could make your way to the upper level for more selections of items.

For souvenirs we got matcha flavor kit kat (a must !), matcha cookies, spicy squid, spicy squid legs and rice cake. I like this Donki because it looked new and it's a Mega Donki meaning it's bigger in square footage thus carries more items. I found they have souvenirs marked as coming from different part of Japan. So those are helpful. Prices vary so you could pick one that suits your budget.

We spent about one hour there and came out with a big bag of souvenirs. Our breakfast was pretty minimal so it's time for lunch. We haven't had any sushi yet since we arrived in Japan so sushi was the choice for lunch that afternoon.

Please check out the Genki sushi lunch post here.

After a wonderful and fun lunch we were ready to continue. I felt that we haven't gotten enough souvenirs yet so we went back to Donki again. These were all in Shibuya and all pretty close to each other in a matter of less than 10 minutes walking.

We were out of Donki again with another bag. I was looking for Daiso - a popular Japanese dollar chain store. But before we got there we came across Can Do which had similar concept - 100 yen store. They had some cute stuff here more than the other Daiso in Osaka.

Yoyogi park
Using subway we found our way to Yoyogi Park (Yoyogi Koen). This big park is close to Harajuku and Meiji Shrine. But we didn't have time to go to those places and will put those two in our itinerary for next time. Yoyogi Park was quiet that day maybe due to overcasted weather but it was nice and cool for walking around. And we thought was a great place to stake out Farfetch'd ! (we are pokemon go players after all).
Yoyogi park on a quiet afternoon

Yoyogi Park was a nice park and even had special dedicated lane for bikers. There was a bicycle rental station too. Restrooms were abundant and clean. We stayed around at Yoyogi Park for almost one hour.

We had yakisoba dinner at a small restaurant near our Airbnb apartment and discovered Shinjuku entertainment area. Check out the story of the yakisoba dinner here.
