SF Exploratorium SeaGlass Restaurant - San Francisco
corn chowder |
We passed by Exploratorium so many times already and occasionally just hanging out there at their lobby. That day we happened to venture to the back of the Exploratorium and saw people coming out with plates of food. As it was close to lunch time we became curious and followed them through the door into the building. I think the front entrance most likely is through the paid area of the Exploratorium. The door we used was more like a back door for people to go out to the two picnic table setting outdoor.
Inside looks like a fancy cafeteria style setting with different counters serving different menu. The prices was more on the higher side. But we managed to pick up two items that were pretty interesting and didn't cost too much. I think we paid less than $20 for those two items. One was a vegetarian posole which normally is made with pork. The second one was corn chowder. The posole was made with hominy and also some other beans. Topped with a huge round shape tortilla chip, chopped cabbage and a spoonful of guacamole. The corn chowder had bits of bacon and had a smoky flavor most likely from the bacon.
Both soups were tasty but served more like snacks to us. It's not really very filling but we were not too hungry. I can see why people think that the price was on the higher side.
