Red Star Seafood Restaurant - Vancouver
shrimp ball with almond sliver |
After five minutes of no information whatsoever, my sis-in-law showed up. We were trying to be patient and let them figure out their reservation or whatever they needed to do. About fifteen minutes later and our third group finally arrived, we were then shown to our table. So much of a reservation. Other smaller group of four with no reservations already got their tables by then.
They don't have carts to bring around their dimsum so we ordered from a piece of paper menu by noting the amount we wanted to order. There was a nicer printed menu that I thought was special but then it was the same menu but nicely printed and bound on a booklet.
We ordered typical dimsum like bbq bun, shrimp roll on rice wrap and soup dumpling (xiao long bao). Then we had some not too typical like durian mochi, fried shrimp ball with almond and braised tripe. For you all that wanted something a bit more adventurous could go for deep fried pig intestine, marinated duck wing or pig knuckle in vinegar.

I guess the food was okay, nothing to die for. We were so used to just do take out for dimsum while we were living in San Jose. This place is good for family gathering or a nice family dining out. Just don't expect exceptional customer service.
