Road Trip food
Most Costco offered standard fares at their food court like pizza and hot dog. Depends on locations, some Costco offers unique item to that particular region. On our previous road trip we tried an amazing organic beef burger at the Central Point, Oregon location. And then the Costco in Richmond, British Columbia has poutin and french fries on their menu.
A few days ago we were on a road trip to Bellingham, Washington and stopped by the Costco there to get gas. We decided to go in and take a look to see if there's anything interesting. I noticed an Al Pastor salad on their menu and thought we should give it a try.
The price was $4.95 and the salad featured chopped romaine lettuce, black olives, bell pepper, shredded carrot strips and some seasoned soy topping. The dressing looked and tasted like thousand island. I guess it's a vegetarian salad. The soy protein was well seasoned and went well with the greens. Make sure they are mixed well before you enjoy it.
Our next stop was Tsawwassen Mills, an outlet mall in Tsawwassen, a town south of Vancouver, BC. The outlet mall has a huge food court with at least ten vendors offering a varieties of cuisine from Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Greek and Western.
I chose Barcelos which features flame grill chicken with Portuguese style peri peri sauce. One could choose chicken only or chicken with some sides. I picked the quarter chicken breast option with peri fries as the side. It took about 5 minutes for them to prepare the order for me.
The quarter chicken was pretty generous amount of protein. The spiciness level I chose was very peri which was one level below the most spicy level. But I didn't find the chicken nor the sauce spicy enough. I was expecting it to taste like the Nando's chicken but I was a bit disappointed as it wasn't as good.
