iStay Hotel - Georgetown, Penang - Malaysia

Remodeled from two adjacent old buildings, this hotel kept the outer look the same with a modern decor inside. Ground floor of one of the buildings is used as lobby for the hotel and the other side is used as an Italian restaurant. We did not have a chance to try that restaurant during our stay.

There were only a handful rooms downstairs. Being an old building there's no elevator in the building. We had to drag our suitcases upstairs.

We got a room facing the street. It had a high big window with thick glass cover. We found out the hard way the first night when we left the window open. The noise from the kopitiam (coffee shop/restaurant) down there went all the way to our room. And the noise continued till almost 2 am in the morning when the garbage truck came to pick up trash.

My parents' room was facing inside with a smaller higher window. No noise at all but also no view. If I were to go back I would definitely get the room facing the street again. It's a lot brighter and certainly provided lots of view through out the day.
