The amount of reviews on Google says it all. This is probably the place you want to go for fish and chips in Victoria. It's not fancy, no white table cloth. In fact the seating is outdoor by the water front. Or if it's crowded, it's standing eating.
We went there a bit earlier at 7 pm, trying to beat dinner crowd. But boy were we wrong. Everybody else were already there. There was a line about twenty people in front of us. The line moved slowly. It took us about 40 minutes to get to front of the line and placed our order. And after that another twenty more minutes to get our order.
We ordered 2 pieces of halibut fish and chips, jerk poutine and deep fried pickle. We thought the halibut possibly the size of the halibut we had in the taco this afternoon. Again we were wrong. The halibut piece was gigantic. Of course if we just ordered that with a salad that would have been perfect. But we also got poutine and a deep fried pickle. I never know a thing of overdose of deep fried items. But that's exactly how we felt that evening.

Don't get me wrong, the fish and chips was wonderful. The halibut was so fresh. No fishy smell. I could eat it just like that without any sauce. The jerk poutine by itself would have been perfect. The sauce compliment the fries. Everything was freshly made. The only thing I wouldn't order again was the fried pickle. I found it too thinly sliced and too salty for my taste.
