The Leaky Cauldron @ Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Orlando, Florida
On our last day at Universal Studios we were going to have lunch at Lombard Seafood Grille. I was craving clam chowder. We went there around 1 pm and was told there was a wait - could be up to 30 minutes. After waiting for like 5 minutes we decided to leave. The next option was The Leaky Cauldron at Diagon Alley - Universal Studios.
There was a line at Leaky Cauldron. It moved pretty fast. Though almost not as fast as I wanted it to be. We needed to be back at our hotel for the airport shuttle at 3. So I was a bit nervous about it. It took about 35 minutes of wait time from the time we started lining up to the time we got our food. Not too bad.
It worked just like at The Three Broomstick. When we got to the top of the line then we were directed to a register to place our order. We got our drink - Otter's fizzy orange juice and a candle holder with a number on it. Then we went to a different line to be seated.
While waiting for the food to be delivered, we looked around the restaurant. In Harry Potter stories, The Leaky Cauldron supposed to be bar, restaurant and also inn for wizards. This Leaky Cauldron has "upstairs" that looked like rooms. There was a huge chandelier and of course a cauldron with a big crack on it.
We ordered bangers and mash and fish and chips. Bangers and mash is a traditional dish of England consisted of sausages with mashed potatoes and caramelized onions. Also served together was peas, half a tomato, steamed broccoli and carrot. The sausages were juicy and went very well with the caramelized onion. The veggies were nicely steamed and not soggy. All in all a very rounded meal.
Fish and chips was served a tar tar sauce on the side. The fish tasted fresh and not fishy. The fries was the right amount all together and not an overwhelming combination. Another satisfying fish and chips after the one we had at Three Broomstick.
Last but not least, the special drink Otter's fizzy orange juice. It was orange juice with fizzy soda. Very refreshing. Served on a Harry Potter themed glass with spiced sugar coating on the rim. It looked like an exotic alcoholic drink. We had another guest asked us what it was.
