Full House Dumpling 松滿湯包 - Fremont, CA
Our friend suggested this place for lunch. When I heard of a place in Fremont I thought of the Warm Springs area. I knew a few restaurants there. But when I looked up the map for this restaurant I was surprised to see the location. This place seemed like newly developed. There were quite a few restaurants there. The good thing is the parking lot wasn't super crowded. Parking was a breeze. Even the restaurant wasn't very busy. Maybe because we had a late lunch - around 1:30 pm.
The lay out of the restaurant was a bit weird. When we got there our friends were already in the restaurant. So we went in as well. We noticed there were at the counter and another group of people were behind them. In the beginning I mistakenly thought they have to order at the counter and pay before getting a seat. But then one of the waitress told us to get in line. The queue was formed along the right side of the wall from the counter all the way to the entrance.
Once we were all seated then we got the menu. The menu was quite big - different types of dim sum, beef and lamb dishes, noodle & rice, vegetables and clay pot dishes. Since our friends been there before we just let them do the ordering. I'm sure they know which ones are good.
The food came out pretty fast. We got 2 different type of green onion pancake. The regular one - thinner and the Yi Lan green onion pancake or should I say Yi Lan green onion cake because it's pretty thick. I like the thicker version, sort of different.
We also tried soup dumpling. Though I must say that their soup dumpling was okay only. Not quite a big fan of soup dumpling. These dumplings were dry inside not juicy. Or maybe because we waited too long to eat them ?
My favorite was the beef roll. It's sliced beef with a bit of sauce inside rolled in an outer layer of bread. The bread was pan fried and had a bit crust on it. Yum. Our friend ordered a pork with preserved vegetables soup. It's nice, a bit tangy and refreshing considering the rest of the dishes were carb loaded.
Last but not least was the gyoza. I actually enjoyed the gyoza more than the soup dumpling. Maybe because the pan fried dough was in general more fragrant than steamed ?
All in all it was a good meal. We enjoyed the company and the conversation. Truthfully when we got the conversation going, it's almost automatic to just put one bite after another. That can really be dangerous for any diet. 😅
