Janya's Thai Cuisine - Redding, CA
We decided to give this place a try again after a failed one on the way to California. Or more like we failed to have any Thai food while we were in California, so we felt like we needed one on the way back to Vancouver. It's been a while we had any Thai food.
We left Los Gatos around 10ish and understood that we won't reach Redding until pass our lunch time. But we got plenty of snacks with us and bananas. So we decided let's stay hungry until Redding.
By the time we got to the restaurant it's not quite dinner time so it's very quiet. I guess the lady behind the register was surprised to see that we were going to eat in. The only other person there was waiting for her take out order. But we were seated pretty fast and menus were presented to us.
I decided to get the stir fry mixed veggies with pork and hubby went for his favorite curry noodle, khao soi. Khao soi is a northern style curry noodle serves with rice noodle, meat and pickled green mustard. The curry is usually a bit reddish but not too spicy.
Our table was next to a big window so while waiting for our orders we had a chance to look outside. It's a sunny day but darker clouds were moving in. Our food came pretty fast and we couldn't wait to dig in. My stir fry veggies came with carrot, green bean, broccoli, young corn. It's fried just right, not too soft. Hubby's loving his khao soi because it's a special khao soi with crab meat !
It was a satisfying meal and filled our tummy with happiness. Most likely we would just have a light dinner or snack as it's pretty late in the day.
