Sandbar Seafood Restaurant at Granville - Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

We were invited to dinner at this restaurant. It was a special occasion thus the fancy place. This restaurant is located at Granville Island. It's a touristy area that's why I think the price was justified. Some could say tourist trap.

We were there to have dinner. The reservation was for 6 pm. We arrived there and got escorted to second floor. From where we sat I wouldn't say that the view was spectacular. I guess if we have sat outside probably would have been better.

Our waiter came and reviewed the menu with us then let us studied the menu. Our group was pretty big and some wanted to try fresh oysters so they decided on what type of oysters to order. I got the seafood hotpot which was mussels, prawn, scallops, fish and mushroom in thai red curry and coconut milk.

When it came I noticed that the hotpot didn't come with any carbs or salad. There was maybe 2 strings of green bean in the dish. That's all folks. The dish was tasty with just the right saltiness so no carb was fine for me. But for other people who are big eater may need bread or rice to go with the hot pot. Of course, those are available on the menu but with extra charge.

Hubby got the ahi tuna poke bowl. He complaint of the lack of flavor and the scarcity of the tuna. On the outside it looked decent with some cut tuna, cubes of of avocado, slices of cucumber, shredded carrot, radishes, edamame and shredded nori. But now that I looked at the photo again I realized that the sauce used was most likely not enough to flavor the whole bowl. It seemed to me that sauce was just drizzled on top. Compared to other poke bowl that we had before where we may add kimchee or spicy tuna or other topping that was drenched in sauces, this one seemed a bit pale in comparison. I ended up offering my red curry sauce to season his bowl. 😜

I included another picture of sushi sashimi platter that was ordered by another family member. I don't think I would be full on that small amount. So all in all I would not recommend this place as a casual eatery. It's more like that some place reserved for special occasion.
