Pa Ya Hoi Sod (Pa Ya Fresh Shellfish) - Surat Thani, Thailand
This was one restaurant that I think deserves a post by itself. 😃 We were on our drive to Krabi and our friend AK suggested to stop by this place for lunch. It's popular on social media as a place for seafood.
It's location on a big street made it easy to stop by. There was a big parking lot as well in the back. Though people park in front of the restaurant just by the road side. Hey, it's Thailand. 😎
It was just after 12 when we got there. Some people were finishing up their lunch. As soon as we went in the restaurant, AK, me and R went to check out what's available that day. I seriously don't know what's written on the menu. I saw green mussel and I nodded my approval. Oysters ? Sure, but I don't like them raw. Prawns and squid ? Of course. 😋
Just like that then we went back to our table and waited for our orders to be prepared. Ice bucket and glasses were brought to the table. Drinks distributed. Not long our orders started to appear. Big plate of steamed green mussel served with chili sauce for dipping. A plate of raw oysters covered in crushed ice for AK. A plate of mung bean thread with prawn salad. Another full plate of squid ring. Stir fry morning glory, fresh and still crunchy. For us who can't handle raw oysters we got a few steamed oysters. A plate of prawn with sweet chili sauce.
An interesting note on how the oysters are served in Thailand. Both raw and cooked oysters were served in the same way. Some sweet chili paste, fried shallot and fresh herbs.
