Part 2 : Noodle Soups in Chiang Rai - Chiang Rai, Thailand

In this post I'll share two noodle soup places at Lan Muang Village. As you guess it, Lan Muang Village is the fancier food court/shopping area in the neighborhood of Lan Mueang Market. This LM Market is seriously big with shops around the entrance and a huge food court with stage and small shops around the food court as well.

If you read my previous posting on part 1 of noodle soup where I mentioned food court at Lan Mueang Market. That food court was different from this one here. This Lan Mueang Village is more like a shopping strip of smaller food shops surrounding a stage with more outdoor seatings.

Yentafo and Tomyum Noodle

Let me just call that place yentafo and tomyum noodle soup place until I figure out the name. When we went there for lunch, that's what we ordered. I got the yentafo with clear soup no red sauce. R got the yentafo with the red sauce and hubby and M got the tomyum soup with coconut milk.

There was some laminated picture menu actually presented at the table. But there's no English menu so if you're not Thai at least the picture menu helps a bit. 😊

My clear yentafo noodle soup comes with different shapes of fish cakes. The greens used was similar to iceberg lettuce and then some deep fried wonton skin. The broth was pretty mild. Chicken or seafood broth ?

The tomyum noodle soup I think is a clear winner. The milky soup was sweet and rich with coconut milk. Fragrant with kaffir lime leaf. The protein for the tomyum noodle soup were prawn, white fish fillet and squid. There was also same style of lettuce used.

The yentafo soup with red sauce came with seafood as well. Squid, prawn and some dry squid along with choysum as the greens. The red sauce came with preserved tofu. The broth was similar to the clear one. Mild but with the preserved tofu so has a bit additional saltiness but still pretty mild.

Wonton Noodle

This wonton place is just next door to the yentafo/tomyum noodle place above. Their specialty is wonton and crispy wonton. Too bad when we went there they were out of everything but wonton. In fact they only had two portion of wonton left. So we got to try the wonton while M and R ordered noodle soup from the yentafo/tomyum noodle place next door.

For this wonton noodle soup, the noodle used was the egg yellow noodle. The wontons were huge. I think the size was easily twice the size of the regular wonton. The veggie used was choisum and the broth was dark color. The broth was pretty strong taste. Possibly pork based with soy sauce.
