Thailand Road Trip : Day 3 Ayutthaya - Cha Am

Floating Market
Today we will not have lunch at gas station. We have upgraded ourselves to lunch at a floating market. Not just any floating market but supposedly the original floating market Damnoen Saduak. This market is located at the outskirt of Bangkok.

We did not go through Bangkok as the traffic is usually very heavy. This trip we also avoided highway as we had some bad experience missing an exit. But missing an exit is usually quite usual even for highway driving in the US.

We got there just around lunch time. The floating market concept was just like a normal market except transactions done on the boat. Sellers make their food on their boats. Some paddled the boat around offering whatever items they're selling. Our boat noodle lady didn't have to move around as her clients come for her food. We didn't exactly get on boat to eat our lunch. We chose to sit down properly on land and enjoyed our noodle soup. We then had some coconut ice cream as dessert.

Cha Am Beach
After lunch, we piled in the car and continued south. We managed to get to Cha Am Beach before 5 pm. Got situated and went to the beach.

Cha Am beach are more popular for local. We rented chairs with umbrellas and purchased food as well. The lady who rented out chairs also sells food. But then there were also peddlers who would come and offer goods. Varieties of items offered like fried fish cakes, fried soft shell crabs or dry squid.

I think the chair rental was THB 30 per chair. We selected an area of 8 seats even though there were 5 of us. And we paid THB 240 (USD 6.72).

After dark, a lot of people started playing fireworks. More peddlers showed up to offer different type of fireworks. Big and small.
