Kartika Sari - Bandung, Indonesia

For all of you who are not native of Indonesia or never heard of pisang molen/pisang bolen. If you do have a chance to visit Bandung, make sure to stop by Kartika Sari. It's a snack shop with a few locations scattered through out Bandung. It's a must stop to buy your Bandung gifts. This particular shop opens early at 7am.

The specials at Kartika Sari is a pastry called pisang bolen/pisang molen. Pisang means banana in Indonesian. Pisang bolen/pisang molen is a snack made with pastry outer layer with real banana wrapped up inside.

Another one that we bought this time was cheese roll. Just as it sounds, it's pastry made with flour, butter and cheese. It's more savory than sweet. Not super cheesy though.

This section contains a lot of traditional Indonesian snacks. 💓

This was what we bought for our snacks. The sesame balls had mung bean filling, the red 'turtle' cake also has mung bean filling. The rest had savory filling.

Different cakes. This display was by the cashier. I got bored waiting for the cashier line to move.

As far as I know, the cheese roll and the pisang molen/pisang bolen are made fresh at Kartika Sari. The others are consigned by other small businesses.
