Hua Hin to Bangkok By Train

The tickets to Bangkok could not be purchased too early. We tried to purchase the following day after we arrived but the person refused us and told us to buy the tickets a day prior to departure. I later on read an article about the rules of the tickets sales. Something to do with the distance. The shorter the distance, the time given to purchase the tickets is shorter. Something like that. I later on found a website with comprehensive information about Thailand train travel. This is the website : https://www.thaitrainguide.com/

There were quite a few trains to Bangkok from Hua Hin. We picked the 7 am train so we could arrive in Bangkok in the afternoon. It takes about 5 hours to reach Bangkok. We were at the station around 6:30 but the train didn't arrive until 7:39. Actually I have read about the reviews on how often the trains are late. Anyhow we did manage to reach Bangkok according to schedule. 😁 So I think they do know that they would beat the time scheduled anyway so late or early as long as they reached Bangkok in time.

Our tickets were 2nd class sleeper train. We didn't need to sleep so that's what I told the ticket master but I guess that was the only AC car (s) available. I remember that there were only two cars with AC when we boarded and the rest were fan cars.

It was pretty early when we boarded so we were the only sitting on the bottom seats. Each of us got to occupy both seats. Put our stuffs where we wanted. Later on as the passengers on top of us woke up, the conductor then put away their sleeping compartments and those passengers would share the bottom seats with us. One sitting in front of me and the other sitting in front of hubby across the aisle. Yeah, that's the other thing that we missed when purchasing the tickets. Misunderstanding the seats. But it's all good.
