Ipoh Food Street : Jalan Carey - Ipoh, Malaysia
Not sure if this Jalan Carey food stalls have been covered by any blogger or Instagrammer. Perhaps not because even though they're busy but not overly. And I definitely didn't see lots of reviews on any of the stalls. Perhaps it's better that way. 😁
There are at least fifteen if not more stalls on this Jalan Carey. Jalan Carey is a small road with one end to Jalan Sultan Idris Shah and the other was Jalan Theatre before it turned the corner and became Jalan Carey. If one is going towards Ipoh Parade Mall on Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, after the town area, it will be a smaller street on the right hand side.
Cheong Kee Beef Noodle
If you're coming from Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, this stall will be among the first few stall. The sellers were an older couple. We didn't pick what we wanted in the soup. We just told them two bowls. So we got some slices of beef and tripe. The soup was sweet with a tint of soy sauce. I read the reviews mentioning their meat balls. Couldn't comment on those since we didn't request them.
What stood out was the sweetness of the soup. Not from sugar but from the daikon. It reminded me of the broth used with Japanese oden.

This stall sells drinks and snacks like rojak (fruit salad with shrimp paste), keropok with sauce. The keropok was sold per piece. I was curious of the sauce used but didn't dare to try. I think the sauce most likely is a variation of rojak sauce.
We ordered a drink from here and a rojak. Hubby liked both.
Barbecue chicken wings 烧鸡翼
This bbq chicken wings stall is not on the Jalan Carey. But it's behind the main row of stalls. There's a parking lot behind the stalls and there were a few stalls next to the lot. This bbq chicken wing is among those.
The chicken wings were sticky and sweet. Very nice indeed though it took more than ten minutes to get them.
