Lamphu House Chiang Mai - Chiang Mai, Thailand
I considered this sort of a road trip. We didn't drive our own car but we took a bus to Chiang Mai. That counted as something. This was actually our second time taking bus to Chiang Mai. We could have flown there but we enjoyed the ride of 3.5 hours. It didn't feel that long. The bus was pretty comfy.
This time hubby went to Chiang Mai for Chiang Mai marathon. Since the starting point was Tha Phae Gate I searched up and down for hotels in that area. In the end I settled for Lamphu House. It's inside a small road (soi) but it's just minutes by foot from Tha Phae Gate.
Compared to the hotel we stayed last time in the Nimman area which felt more like an apartment with a kitchenette. This one felt like a hotel room. No kitchenette. Not even a water boiler. 😞But it had a nice cute balcony overlooking the pool below. Our room was on third floor which was the highest floor. It's a cute tiny hotel.
The location was amazing though. There are two walking streets within walking distance. Walking streets are night market with lots of vendors selling all sorts of varieties of items. From souvenirs, arts, clothing to food. Most of walking streets in Thailand are over weekends, either Saturdays or Sundays. Since we stayed over the weekend we had chances to visit two different walking street. Wua Lai walking street on Saturday and Tha Phae Gate walking street on Sunday. If you only have one chance to visit walking street, definitely choose Tha Phae Gate walking street. It's a huge event stretch over a few blocks.
