Playing Badminton in Chiang Mai

On this trip to Chiang Mai, we stayed near Central Festival area (Fa Ham). We travelled with our badminton rackets. Or more like we lost our badminton rackets on our flights from KLIA and had to purchase a set of new badminton rackets at Central Festival. We got a bargain on a pair of Kawasaki brand badminton rackets for about THB 680 (USD 20).

Last time we stayed in this area we found an old badminton court with wood flooring. Alas, this time we went there, it's closed down. 😨 Badminton court business is not easy.

Nice badminton place with about 19 courts. We like this badminton court because it's spacious. Unfortunately they only opened in the afternoon around 4 pm on weekdays. We like to play morning on weekdays and avoid weekends when it tends to be busier.

Appointment can be arranged through Smart Court app. Payment has to be done in advanced through bank transfer. The last time we paid it was THB 160/hour (USD 4.72/hour). Limited sizes of shoes were available for rent at THB50 (USD 1.48).

Restrooms and showers are available at premise.

When we booked Grab to go there, just search using "Shin-sho" and the badminton court name will show up. This place opens pretty early in the morning so its hours fits our needs and schedule. Unfortunately to reserve we have to contact them through LINE. And once we booked with them after our play and we were given court #1 but when we actually played we were assigned a different court. So it's pretty annoying not to get the court we wanted.

There are eight courts at this badminton place. Unfortunately the courts are pretty close to each other. That's why it's better if we could get the court we liked. Unfortunately there was a big group playing there and they seemed to get priorities when it comes to court assignments.

This Decathlon has badminton court for free. Booking can be arranged here. Unfortunately the court here is not a full size badminton court. And depends on the time of the day, it could get windy as well.

The positive things are if you can make it here, there are also a gym and a basketball court. Along with a muay thai gym. They are all free of charge. Just make sure to do a booking to guarantee your spot.
