Foek Lam Emporium Pluit Mall - Jakarta, Indonesia

We had a chance of trying this restaurant when we were in Jakarta. This restaurant is located on 3rd floor of Emporium Pluit Mall. The restaurant looked expensive so before we went in I checked first to make sure they accept cash payment. 😉 There are quite a few establishments in the mall which only accept cashless payment methods. That would include QRIS and debit/credit cards.

Supposedly this restaurant is affiliated with Jun Njan restaurant which I know has been around forever since my childhood time. The menu has lots of varieties and not very typical food. I had my eyes set on Thai style gurame fish. But in the end we decided on sapo gurame with taro instead. We also ordered szechuan style green bean, fried pork belly, siewmai, tofu skin shrimp roll and rice cake with salted radish.

The fried pork belly was amazing. Crispy on the skin and it's not too fatty. A good combination. The sapo gurame with taro was completely different from what I imagined. There's not much broth perhaps because the taro absorbed all the broth. The taste was pretty mild. Almost bland.

The shumai was standard. The rice cake though was nice. It's our family favorite and it's not easy to find so we enjoyed it.

Total bill including service charge was IDR 740,000. (USD 47.26). Included in the bill was three hot tea and four steam rice.
