Excapade Japanese Cuisine - Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei
Hubby got plenty of cousins in Malaysia and Brunei. So when the same cousin that drove us from Malaysia Brunei border also took us out for dinner. We meant to buy her dinner but we let her chose the place because she is a vegetarian.
She took us to a Japanese restaurant not far from our hotel in Gadong area. It looked like a nice restaurant from outside. When we walked in it gave a fancy vibe. Expensive. But then most Japanese restaurant in Asia are expensive !
We did first round of ordering which we all contributed. I ordered chicken sukiyaki nabe. It seemed pretty safe. Others ordered agedashi tofu, edamame, ebi salad roll, etc. The sukiyaki came out last and I felt it was a bit slow. It had good flavor with slices of carrot, plenty of napa cabbage and slices of chicken.
Then we felt that it wasn't fulfilling enough so we ordered spicy tuna maki and unagi fire cheese nigiri. The spicy tuna maki was fine. Nothing too special. The unagi fire cheese nigiri was interesting. A combination of east and west. I didn't eat the unagi but I picked on the mozzarella cheese on top. It was fine. Hubby didn't care much for the cheese on unagi. He is more on traditional side when it comes to sushi.
Total came to BND 42.93 (USD 32). Not too bad for sushi restaurant but there was not a while lot of seafood either.
