Limbang to Lawas to Brunei

After three days in Limbang, we were set to continue our trip to Brunei. Prior to arriving in Limbang I looked up how to get to Brunei and there was a bus from Limbang to Miri, Sarawak which goes through Brunei. But of course a bus is as good as if you can get the bus tickets. In this case I couldn't purchase the tickets. So I guess the bus may not be running anymore.

We tried to inquire about chartering a taxi to take us to Brunei. But the hotel front desk gave us a look like we were asking a ride from them. Ironically there was a sign of taxi rental in the lobby area. I guess they forgot to remove that banner when the services stopped. Perhaps a while ago.

In the end we had to trouble our relatives to drive us. In the beginning they were still on Lunar New Year holiday so everyone seemed to be relaxing at home. But by the time we were leaving, everyone started going back running business. So we were left with our nephew to drive us. It's an adventure for us.

We set up to leave at 7:30 in the morning. It took about one hour from Limbang to Lawas, Malaysia. But the tricky part was that stretch actually went through Brunei's territory. So the night before we had to complete arrival card for Brunei and arrival card for Malaysia, again.

We reached Lawas just in time for late breakfast around 9:30. Another group of relatives waited for us at a local restaurant where we sat down together and chit chat while enjoying our meals. Most of the dishes were noodle. Pretty heavy carb.

Before we set out to Brunei, we still had another chance of lunch with our big family. This time at a seafood restaurant. The place was busy and packed. But we got a table anyway and food was ordered. Too bad I didn't have a chance to take any food photos here. All the food was amazing.

After we all took a group photo, we then said good byes and moved on the last part of the journey. But we still had to cross the border again. Leaving Malaysia border and crossed over to Brunei again before we got dropped off at a rest area to be picked up by another cousin.😁

This cousin then drove us to Bandar town to meet again another cousin. This cousin is the oldest children of my father-in-law's younger sister. Confused yet ? It happened to be aunty's birthday that day. So we all showed up at her 93 birthday party. A big party with more cousins and nephews and nieces. What an amazing day !
