Wywy Restaurant - Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei
This restaurant is pretty unique in offering their menu. I have seen other Chinese restaurants have hundreds of items similar in a way but with different ingredients but nonetheless it's a different item. Wywy restaurant has hundreds of dishes to offer too. The difference is they have picture menus. You can imagine how thick their menu is. 😁
The first time we went to a different Wywy restaurant location and we were in awed with their menu book. It's as thick as a Yellow Pages. 😃 All number coded so you could just write down what number you would like to order. That part was easy. The hardest part is to go through that book of menu to make sure you're not missing out on anything.
Since this restaurant offered so many dishes. We actually visited twice for dinner and lunch. For dinner we ordered baked chicken wings which came out too saucy. Flavor wise was okay. Nothing too special. We also ordered rojak. In Indonesia rojak or rujak is usually served with fruits and peanut palm sugar sauce. In Brunei and also Malaysia, shrimp paste is used in the rojak sauce.
On our first visit we saw a sign offering fried banana for $3 I think. I honestly didn't remember the price but both me and Wawa craved fried banana so we ordered it anyway. Turned out the fried banana came with teh tarik. So it was quite a good value. And also delicious ! 😋
The following day we had lunch there again. I had my eye on chicken claypot rice which I haven't had a chance to try yet this trip. Wawa wanted to try the laksa. The chicken claypot rice was okay. I think the rice wasn't cooked in the pot so it seemed to be missing certain flavor. At the same time it's less oily because extra oil is usually used to prevent rice from sticking to the pot.
