Hock Seng Kopitiam - Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

Found this eatery on Google map. It's pretty close to where we stay at H2O Residence. So we decided to check it out. We first tried another eatery close to this one called Restoran Do Re Mi. There's some similar items between these two eateries so taste wise is pretty subjective.

Hock Seng Kopitiam is divided into two zones. One is located just a few steps away from the other separated by an alley. There were Hainanese chicken rice, dim sum (shu mai, lo mai gai, different types of bun), nasi lemak, Sarawak noodle, pan mee, soup, popiah, etc. Our favorites from this kopitiam were popiah, Sarawak laksa and nasi lemak. But I saw lots of people ordered Hainanese chicken rice as well.

Lee Popiah
This one is located at zone A. They offered a few types of popiah ranging between RM7-8 (USD 1.2-1.4). Vegetarian except I'm not sure if the sweet spicy sauce has shrimp paste in it.

On both occasions I ordered the crispy popiah which has shredded carrot, cooked shredded jicama along with sweet spicy sauce and crispy tempura (?). It's sweet and savory with crispy texture. Really nice and refreshing when you don't want anything heavy.

Sarawak Laksa & Noodle
This stall sells different types of kolo mee, Sarawak laksa and kampua mee. Hubby recommended their Sarawak laksa. Rich and thick with sambal on the side.

Hakka Noodle (zone A)
Plain noodle with some minced pork and bowl of soup with meatballs.

Nasi Lemak (zone B)
Didn't look good but it was amazing and very good value. Hubby thinks it's better than Village Park nasi lemak. 😉

Curry Mee
I was expecting thinner noodle like the one we had at Tong Roast. But this one used thick yellow noodle.
