Imperial Kitchen is a franchise chinese restaurant with many outlets in Jakarta including Soekarno Hatta airport. This review was for the location at Emporium Pluit Mall.
We visited this location twice within 10 days period. On our first visit we ordered kwetiau goreng sapi (stir fried rice noodle with broth), gurame goreng asam manis (sweet and sour gourami fish), siew mai (shu mai dumpling), mantou panggang sapi (mantou bread with beef), fong zau (braised chicken feet). We enjoyed the food and thought this could be our regular dimsum place.
We went there again a week later. This second visit was on Sunday. The small place was busy but we managed to get a table. Food seemed a bit slower to come out. Even the utensils have to be requested. Drinks didn't come out first. In fact we didn't get our drinks until one of the dishes came out.
But the worst part was the dish that we have previously ordered now came out a lot smaller in portion. The fried rice noodle didn't taste as good as our first visit. Yes, it was not the exact same dish but it's fried noodle with different topping. I don't see why the taste was incomparable to the first visit.
On our second visit we ordered roast duck and the portion was so tiny. I know that their portions actually are smaller than other dimsum restaurant. So it may seem that the bill came out cheaper than other chinese restaurant but the amount of food was also less.
Conclusion. We would go back but only on weekdays. Recommended dishes : gurame asam manis, kwetiau goreng sapi, nasi goreng yang chow, shumai rumput laut dan mantou panggang sapi. The dimsum choices are limited.
