Bear Rice ข้าวหน้าหมี

The name Bear Rice is direct translation from the Thai name of the restaurant. I found it accidentally when searching for eateries in our neighborhood. There was no English name on Google maps for this place. I have to remember the closest landmark to be able to find it again on Google maps. 😅

We went there for lunch and when we stuck our heads in the dining area it was pretty full. The place isn't that big. Probably fit about twelve people. But some seemed to be finishing off their meals. So we backed off to the street. Yes, it's a tiny restaurant. In a way it fits the Japanese style dining. Tiny and cozy.

As we waited outside, the lady owner greeted us and asked how many people. I was just guessing because I didn't understand what she was asking. 😁 But while waiting we had a chance to decide on what to order.

By the time we went back in and got our table I was ready to order. As everybody pretty much finished their meals, we were left with another empty table next to us. We quickly moved over as that table was the best table. It was situated next to the window with plenty of natural lights.

We were just getting hungry when our orders were brought out. My order of sliced and grilled beef topped with egg served on top of rice. That was a combo with a cold drink. The beef was tender enough. It's hard to find tender beef in Thailand especially because most of the time the place we went serve a very decent price meal. I think beef or more like tender beef comes with a bit premium price. But this one wasn't too bad. I think it was around THB 100 (USD 3.02).

Hubby ordered a pork katsu curry. It looked very legit. As good looking and as tasty as Wako Bake but with a lower price. The only thing that I would not order again was their pork katsu with cheese and mayo sauce. It had too much sauce with weird color. 😟
