Bumi Aki Heritage - Puncak, Indonesia

Puncak area is located at a higher elevation thus it has a cooler climate. People from Jakarta likes to visit Puncak on weekends and holiday. So Puncak is best avoided during those times. I heard horror story of my brother's family visited Puncak during long weekend and was stuck in traffic for eight hours !😓

So as much as I like cooler weather, a break from hot humid weather of Jakarta, I usually don't like to go to Puncak. This time on our road trip, we picked our accommodation just off highway. But for nice scenery and cooler climate, we drove up to Puncak and had lunch at Bumi Aki Heritage.

There are two location for Bumi Aki. Last time we planned to go to this location but was stuck in traffic. Everybody was hungry especially the seniors, so we decided to stop by on the first location which was still at a lower elevation.

Luckily, this time traffic wasn't bad and we made it to Bumi Aki Heritage. The place changed a lot. I came to this restaurant perhaps ten years ago. At the time, it was a smaller restaurant, we sat at a lower table overlooking view of the valley below. There was fog outside.

Those lower tables seating were still available. That row actually has the best view of the whole restaurant as it faces the valley inside. But as we are not used to sitting at lower table, eating could be uncomfortable so we opted for regular table seats inside the building.

We got a coffee table with four seaters by a big window. It's pretty windy outside so we kept the window opened at a minimum. As we were all hungry so we quickly placed our drinks and food order.
Unfortunately there were a few things we wanted that were not available like bubur ayam Cianjur (chicken porridge) or ketan bakar (grilled sticky rice).

But our waiter was very good in giving recommendation as some items were not available. He recommended sate maranggi sapi (marinated beef satay). I voiced my worries that the beef could be tough. He assured me that I could return the satay if they turned out to be tough. It was indeed pretty tender as he said. 😍

The problem with ordering when you were hungry was over ordering. We almost could not finish our food. Especially with extra dessert like fried bananas and gurandil (a type of traditional kue made of tapioca and served with shredded coconut).
