Nam Chuan Hainan Kopitiam - Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

There were two kopitiam close by to our airbnb at High Park Suites, Petaling Jaya. One was called Namgor Hainan Kopitiam which I posted on my other blog. The one I'm writing about today is called Nam Chuan Hainan Kopitiam and is literally two doors down. One taking one corner of the building and the other taking the other corner of the building.

In term of space, both occupied almost the same square footage but Nam Chuan has seating area with air conditioner. In the hot and humid weather of Petaling Jaya, that certainly is a huge positive point especially for office workers. Me and hubby personally never tried their air con room.

Vendors wise, each kopitiam has their own uniqueness. For example, this kopitiam has Thai noodle and chicken rice vendors while the other kopitiam has fish head noodle and popiah vendors.

During our stay at High Park Suites, below were the dishes we have tried at Nam Chuan kopitiam.

Braised pork rice (卤肉饭)
Flavorful braised pork without feeling greasy. Not too salty even though it looked dark. There's an option to have the braised pork with noodle instead of rice.

Curry mee (curry noodle)

This curry noodle came with a big roll of tofu skin and some tofu along with cockle for people who likes. Ask them to leave it out if you don't. Broth rich which went well with the rest of the stuff.

Char kway teow (stir fry rice noodle)

This char kway teow was as good as the one on the other kopitiam.

Pork noodle

You can ask for either, yellow noodle, rice stick of big rice noodle (kway teow) for this pork noodle soup. The soup was mild with fragrant of pork fat. The broth wasn't oily though. If you like it more salty just dump the soy sauce chili that came with it.

As you can see in the picture, the topping was pretty generous. Tofu skin, minced pork made into chunky lump, sliced pork and pork liver (if one prefer).

Thai braised pork noodle

This vendor sells various Thai noodle dishes like Thai boat noodle, braised pork noodle and noodle soup with braised pork trotter. I chose braised pork noodle with vermicelli.

The broth was tasty and not overly sweet like some of the noodle soup I had in Thailand. Totally recommended if you miss Thai style noodle soup. I like this version better than the "authentic" Thai noodle soup.

Nasi lemak and bbq pork rice

This barbecue pork rice stall is always very busy with people ordering to eat there or to take away. The first time we bought from them was to take away. At the time there was no pork roast left. So this time I made sure to go earlier to get the pork roast mix with char siu. Both were great. The soup was very tasty too with winter melon inside.

This nasi lemak stall is pretty comparable to the legendary Village Park nasi lemak. That's according to hubby. 😁 The sambal was awesome and so was the beef rendang.

Ipoh horfun

This ipoh horfun was pretty good. Fragrant with shrimp flavor. The topping included shrimp and shredded chicken. The same stall also sells chicken rice.
