The Chippy at The Gate British Fish & Chips - Chiang Mai, Thailand

We found this restaurant by accident as we were taking a stroll in the neighborhood. We were just talking about fish and chips a few days earlier. So we were like okay maybe it's a sign that we needed to check this out. 😎

So we went there during lunch time. There were two tables occupied. As we sat down a woman peered in from a door linked to next door hotel. Perhaps the owner ? We placed our orders and noticed that the table next door got their last order very late when they were about to finish. So in the end, the last order wasn't touched.

We ordered one fish and chip with one refried bean. The refried bean was tiny. Not impressed with it especially with the price they charged at THB 75 (USD 2.23). With that amount I could get a whole can of beans. I think they could double the amount of beans and still make money.

The fish they used supposed to be haddock. It's not fish from tropical water so most likely they came frozen so I could not fault the taste. It's a bit bland even with the tartar sauce. I was surprised that one reviewer mentioned that this was the best fish and chips. Hmm..
