First Meal in Kunming : 粥 上 粥 - Kunming, China

After we settled down at the airport, we went down and checked out the neighborhood to look for lunch. Our hotel City Comfort Inn is located in town with plenty of eateries and shops around. We found this restaurant that had pictures posted in front so we know what we're getting. 😁

Confidently we walked inside and sat ourselves down. I was hoping that someone would bring us a menu. But oh there's a QR code on the table for us to scan. Sure, no problem. We have done that before in Indonesia, US and Thailand. Should not be a problem.

Wrong ! For some reason, both of us could not get to the menu. After a few tries we finally gave up and told the staff that we could not use the QR to order. The man we talked to was very understanding and took our orders instead.

While waiting for the food, we looked at the link and tried it again. The link actually pointed to Meituan, an app mainly used for food ordering, as far as I know at that point. But of course later on we found out that Meituan is also used for bicycle rental ! 😅

Anyhow our food arrived and they were delicious. The restaurant as the name implied specializes in congee aka rice porridge. We ordered one of the porridge that was under their signature and wonton soup. The wonton was served in a hot and sour soup an option which I didn't know possible but when ordering was offered to me. The hot and sour soup made the wonton experience a level up than clear soup wonton. 😋
