Mi Casa Mexicana - Vancouver, Canada

Just getting close to our departure date from Vancouver, hubby and I were discussing what type of food we haven't tried yet. Food that's harder to find in Asia. We agreed we haven't had enough of Mexican food in California.

We looked at the selection of Mexican restaurant in Vancouver and had our eyes on Mi Casa Mexicana. Surprisingly I actually have bought some frozen tamales from them years ago during pandemic time. 😁 It's good to know that they survived.

When we visited for lunch the place was pretty quiet. There was another table just finishing up. And after that it was just our table. We ordered tamales, taco trio, and pozoles mix.

Unlike Mexican restaurants we have been to in California and Washington states, here we didn't get free tortilla chips with salsa. But our tamales combo gave us horchata with additional CAD 2.

When our food trickled in one by one, it came to my realization that we got lots of food. Pretty heavy load too. 😅 That's from years of missing Mexican food. Pozoles and tamales were the one I haven't had for a long time.

The food here were fine. Not bad for us who haven't had Mexican food for a long time. The taco trio were not the crispy type. We got to choose the topping and we got chorizo, chochinita and pastor.

The pozole by itself is a meal. It came with like round crispy tortilla. But it's quite a size with plenty of protein in it. The tamales were also a meal since we asked for it to be a combo with some extra shredded lettuce and sour cream.

Despite all those, we were hungry. We finished all the food and almost had to roll down the stairs. 😁 Total bill CAD 62.48 before tips.
