Beautiful Lunch in Old Town Lijiang - Lijiang, China
We happened to walk pass this restaurant in Lijiang Old Town. It's a nice restaurant serving local food with a guzheng music player outside. 😀
We were greeted as we walked in and seated right away. It's a bit late for lunch but we had a late and big breakfast. There were only a handful of people in the restaurant.
We looked at the menu and in the end decided on three dishes. A bean paste cake (丽江豆沙粑粑). We had this Lijiang style flat bread before but with different filling. This time with mung bean paste and I was curious to see if it's any difference.
The second dish we ordered was called pan fried chicken bean jelly (香煎鸡豆凉粉). It's also a local dish made of chickpea. The twist to this local dish was the pan fried portion. The original version was more like a dense pudding like texture but with going through the pan frying creates a crust. But I still feel that its flavor is a bit one dimensional.
The last dish was called horse gang tea beef (马帮茶香牛肉). I'm not sure how they came up with the English name on the menu. But in a simple explanation, it's a fried beef with dried chili and tea leaves dish. The fried tea leaves gave this dish a special fragrance.
