Lanzhou Lamian in Yunnan Province

We were so happy that on this trip to Yunnan Province we had so many chances to try Lanzhou lamian. This dish that we tried a few years ago in Vancouver, BC now became our favorite noodle soup. This type of noodle soup isn't very popular in Indonesia but we have encountered it in Vietnam (not so good), Thailand (good) and Malaysia (good).

Lijiang

There were at least two locations within walking distance from our hotel outside Lijiang Old Town. We tried this one on Chang Shui Road very close to Zhongyi Market. The restaurant was a decent size with about eight tables, four on  each side of the wall. 

Menu posted on the left hand side wall along with the price. We initially ordered a bowl of noodle soup with five lamb skewers. Later on I realized that the noodle wasn't a whole lot. So I ordered a burger with minced beef (rou jia mo 肉夹馍). This version of roujiamo mainly consisted of onion and I couldn't really taste the beef. The bun was very dry as well. I think because it has been frozen.

Shangrila

We didn't expect to see any shops selling Lanzhou lamian here in Shangrila. But when we were in old town Dukezong we came across not just one but at least three Lanzhou lamian shops. So even though we didn't plan on having lunch, in the end we could not resist and stopped by.
