Badminton Courts in Petaling Jaya

This time we spent almost one month in Petaling Jaya. We had a chance to play badminton in three different courts. Below are the short reviews for each one.

NZX Sports Arena

This one was literally across the street from our Airbnb at Eve Suites. Last year we came here to check out the area but at the time we missed the whole place so we thought all the courts have been converted to pickleball courts. But turned out there were still five badminton courts left. 

These courts were not perfect because they were located in an open air shopping area. The management has put a curtain to block the wind but on a windy day we could still feel some of the breeze passed through. Another negative aspect was the cost. Weekend fee for a court rental goes up to RM 30 (USD 7.10) compare to other courts that average about RM 15-20 (USD 3.55-4.74).

Champion Badminton Court

We started playing here last year and then found out that it's very close to Atria SOFO. So this time we gladly found an Airbnb at Atria SOFO and went to this court numerous times.

This court opens at 9 am and booking could easily be done through https://www.courtsite.my/ There are twenty courts altogether with a decent space between the courts. Usually not too busy on weekdays but busier on weekends.

But there were no fans installed inside the building so it could get super hot once you started playing. When it's not too busy, we would pick the court closest to the door and leave the door open for a bit air to come in. Ideally we would like the court to open at 8 am so it doesn't get too hot.

222 Sports Centre PJ

This is our go to badminton court when we stay at Kelana Jaya area. It's not too far actually but since we usually use public buses to get there so the journey could take more than one hour. On some off days we once could not get any bus and ended up taking Grab home.

There are 22 courts here and the facility opens at 9 am in the morning. Booking could also be done through Courtsite. Between Champion and 222 Sports Centre the price is quite comparable about RM 15 (USD 3.55) per hour.

The best thing about this facility was the fans ! Also there's a badminton shop within the facility that sells plenty of equipments, shoes, clothing etc for badminton.
