Raisu - Vancouver, Canada

We have been to this restaurant last year with a different group of people. At the time we only ordered their special bento box. Those special bento box came in a tray of nine separate compartments with small bowl in each compartment.

We were lucky this time as we managed to get a table without prior reservation. Apparently there was no online booking and several phone calls to the restaurant went unanswered. When we first arrived, the host managed to put all ten of us in a private room. But it was pretty cramped. Fortunately we were told that a bigger table became available and we were moved there.

We asked for the special bento box but they were all out since they had to be reserved ahead. Only limited quantities available. But they do have other bento boxes so we ordered one with grilled pork. Some of us also ordered the bento box but with a different options.

Our table was partially outdoor. It was part of a covered terrace. The tables were made tatami style but enable guests to sit with their legs down. Shoes had to be removed before entering the platform style table. For ten of us, the table was slightly better than the previous table and somewhat still felt very intimate. It also enabled us to share dishes easily and picked up conversation easily.

At the end of meal, there was a complimentary small cake for our birthday girl. The staff also helped us take our group photo and gave us a polaroid group photo as well.

The last photo was the restaurant's different business cards available for customer to pick. They were all very cute.
