Tea Origin 茗外 Richmond - Canada
We were invited to a tea place in our old neighborhood in Richmond. This tea place opened at a newly established strip mall within few blocks of Richmond Centre. Street parking are available at the street in front of the shop and also at the parking building where the shop is located. We used the street parking so can't comment on how the building parking works.
The shops offers plenty of selection of teas and also cakes. They also offer tea and cake combos. The cakes separately were pretty pricey. But buying the bundle was actually a better deal. In the end we took the 3 cakes and 2 teas bundle at CAD 58 (USD 40.95).
We got a rose tea, a donut, xiaolonbao, rose ancient tree, and maple leaf. The tea came in a glass jar showcasing the rose petals inside. The tray also came with a card explaining the tea. The rose was pretty but the taste was pretty mild. Reminded me of the rose biscuits of Kunming with a slight rose flavor. All of the cakes were pretty mild as well. Most not too sweet. Pretty and not very rich.
All in all it was a fun experience. The place is not very big so with our big group of five, sitting was a bit challenging. I felt that visitors have to go around us. Most of the tables were pretty close to each other and meant for individual or group of two people.
Other than teas and cakes, there were also merchandise for sale. Tea cup sets, tea mugs and varieties of teas were available for sale.
