Petaling Jaya SS2 - Petaling Jaya, Malaysia
One of the area in Petaling Jaya where you could find numerous eateries within short distance of each other. We happened to be looking for porridge and we found that there are two restaurants there e.g Tasty Porridge and also Granny's Mansion. In the end we chose Tasty Porridge 品粥 .
They had a few types of porridge from plain to chicken porridge varieties. There were also plenty of side dishes to go with the porridge. For those who don't favor porridge, they also have rice set.
We ordered a minced pork porridge, ginger fish slice and double pork noodle soup. The noodle soup was not as tasty as the classic pork noodle at food stall. Perhaps less MSG ? There were sliced pork and ground pork with cut shitake mushroom. I think it's tasty but definitely needs more seasoning. Also the round noodle was not as suitable in my opinion to go with the noodle soup.
The minced pork porridge was almost basic but we had ginger fish to go with it. The ginger fish looked thicker than the photo. It was served on a claypot with a lot more sauce than I expected.
All in all it was a pleasant meal. Not very filling though. But that's fine, we were in SS2, there were plenty of snacks to try.
Our next stop was a second hand shop 2nd Street which was located just around the corner. But wait, I saw a shop that sells pork jerky on the way to our restaurant. So we walked there first to buy some gifts for the family at home.
Once we were done, it started raining. So we waited a bit before walking to 2nd Street. That was our first time visiting a second hand clothes store outside Canada. From the reviewers' photo I knew that there is a second storey. And I almost missed it. The staircase to the second storey is actually closer to the front door than the back of the shop.
We found a tie for hubby and a navy color cotton top for me. Surprisingly there were a lot of ties to choose from.
From there we went to find a dessert shop called The Soybean Factory. We got a warm dessert with tofu pudding as the base with jelly and chewy mochi. The tofu pudding was not sweet at all which was a very pleasant surprise. A small cup of ginger syrup was provided on the side. Even with that syrup it wasn't very sweet. I imagine for people who really like sweet perhaps would need more. Or perhaps other cold dessert are sweeter than what we picked.
