Lunch Buffet @ JW Marriot Sailendra - Jakarta, Indonesia

We had some guests coming from out of town and stayed at JW Marriott. So we decided to gather there for lunch. There was a promo at the time using Grab pay for some special discount.

The lunch buffet started at 12 and so was the opening hours for Sailendra. We got there a bit early and waited outside for quite some time.

The dining area of the restaurant was pretty big. There were different food section e.g. Indonesian food, Japanese, seafood and cheese. At a lower part of the restaurant was a section where some outside vendors offered their signature items. In this area, we found fried cempedak, soto and martabak. Unfortunately other than soto the rest of the stuff were not that fresh as they were just taken there and not freshly made at the venue.

I can't say that there's one particular thing stood out from that lunch buffet. Perhaps the cheeses ? I think the selection was adequate. The dessert section could have been better if they maintain the cheese cake in a colder setting. But the cheese cake was just sitting on the counter getting soft. Not to mention that the display portion looked just like a countertop. Why not place the cheese cake in a small plate easier for guests to grab ?

The seafood section looked like it's taking a big area but the truth was the content wasn't much. I took a few items to try. But after eating a few clams and green mussels I could not bring myself to finish them. They were tasteless. I was also worry of food poisoning in case the seafood wasn't fresh.

Conclusion. Not good. Avoid. I think the hotel restaurant tried to have lots of options but all of them was poorly executed. Lucky for the discount from Grab pay. Or maybe it was on Grab pay discount because they don't do well ?
