New Pho in Town : Pho 24 - San Jose

We were looking at Metro magazine when we saw the name Pho 24. Hubby being a phofans thought we should give it a try.

This place may have been opened for only a few months judging from the grand opening banner they had displayed outside the business. The banner mentioned some discount which expired end of April 2012. It is located in the same location as the Century 24 theatre on Winchester Blvd (hence the name, I guess). Being in a newly built store helps with the inside decor. The wall and tiles looked very clean. I liked their simple and sophisticated decor.

Hubby ordered a seafood pho and I ordered their grilled lemon grass chicken on rice noodle. We also ordered a grilled pork roll. The grilled pork roll came with generous grilled pork wrapped on the rice paper. The rice paper looked thin but still pretty chewy when we bit into it. Nice flavor from the grilled pork but chewy texture. It's served with dipping sauce consisted of fish sauce, sugar and chilli sauce.

Hubby liked his seafood pho. The soup was tasty but the seafood didn't have enough varieties. At other pho place the seafood came with prawn, crab leg, fish cake and squid. But Pho 24 only gave us one huge prawn, one crab leg and several smaller size prawns.

The highlight of the trip was my grilled lemon grass chicken on rice noodle. It came in a huge bowl with tons of chicken on top of the rice noodle with crushed peanuts, thinly sliced carrot, cucumber and a few scattered cilantro. Upon digging more into the rice noodle I found sliced lettuce beneath it. Mix all those well and drizzle the sauce provided to your liking and you'll be ready to enjoy it. The sauce is a mixture of fish sauce, sugar and a hint of chilli sauce.

I wasn't able to take any pictures this time due to my lack of power cell phone. Argh...
