Pho Factory - Milpitas

A friend took us out for lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. I noticed that it was another restaurant before when we last visited Pho Kim Long that was across from it.

When we finally went in the place was actually quite tiny. So the tables were like crammed close to each other. But the place looked pretty new and clean. The tables and chairs were dark wooden chairs. And they were pretty high tech. The lady that took our orders used a tablet to send the orders to the kitchen. Maybe that's why some orders came out pretty fast.

Mayuri Indian Cuisine - Santa Clara

This restaurant is close to where we live and we have passed by numerous times. The first few times I thought it was a Japanese restaurant due to its name. But it turned out that Mayuri means peacock which is the national animal of India.

We called ahead of time and inquired about their lunch buffet just to make sure that it was available that day. It was Sunday after Valentine's day so there were not too many people in the establishment. But later I found out that there was a separate entrance next door where there was some sort of party happening. And the inside of the restaurant is huge and there was another party at the back side almost in a private area.

Gluten Free Steam Vegetarian Bun

I found this recipe when I was searching for a new gluten free recipe for my collection. I have tried this recipe mainly for the dough. The recipe below has been adjusted here and there. The original recipe was from Liv at Liv Gluten Free

Ingredients for dough:
1 packet dry yeast (1 packet contains 7 grams of dry yeast)
2 tablespoons lukewarm water (about 110-115 degree)
1 teaspoon sugar plus 1/4 cup sugar, separated
1 1/4 cup potato starch
1/2 cup tapioca starch
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons brown rice flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup warm almond milk
2 tablespoons oil
a sprinkle of xanthan gum (optional)
