Country Hotel - Takayama, Japan

We picked this hotel because it was just in front of the Nohi bus terminal in Takayama. And knowing that we'll be arriving there by bus I thought we should just stay there. But we found out later on that the busy part of town was actually further down closer to the river. As you can see from the tourist attraction map we found posted on the road.

This hotel looked pretty dated. But just like most hotels in Japan it's very clean and offered sufficient amenities for most travelers. There were pajama sets, hair dryer and water kettle/humidifier. They even offered breakfast for a small fee which we didn't take since there was a Family Mart just downstairs.

If you are going on a day trip to Shirakawa-go or Tateyama Kurobe it's pretty convenient to stay at Country Hotel since the bus terminal was just in front of the hotel. All the buses for those day trip operate from that bus terminal. Or even if you are taking bus to some of the sightseeing point within Takayama like Hida Folk Village you could take a bus from this Nohi Bus Terminal. Though we could choose to walk there like we did. Though part of the route wasn't very pedestrian friendly.
