Yoshiyama Shouten @ Esta Ramen Republic - Sapporo, Japan

We were wondering around Sapporo Station when we stumbled upon Ramen Republic. I knew about it as a place where one could find several ramen stores all in one place. But when presented the options we were actually quite distracted. Too many options so limited space. In the end we settled for Yoshiyama Shouten. What attracted us to them was the fish broth ramen.

The place was pretty decent size for a ramen place. A waitress announced us to her team and everybody yelled out something which I assumed was to welcome us. They got English menu with pictures. Everything looked yummy. We picked the ramen with fish broth and then shio ramen (salt flavor ramen). We were not very hungry so we didn't order other side dishes. Always keep some space in tummy in case we come across yummy stuff down the road. You never know.

The shio ramen broth didn't looked very clear like the other shio ramen we had previously in Nagoya. It's a bit cloudy almost like the fish broth ramen which actually is miso based. The toppings between those two ramen were slightly different. The salt flavor ramen had shredded wood ear while the miso fish broth ramen had green onion and a sheet of nori. Taste wise both were good. The fish broth ramen wasn't fishy at all. I think it just gave additional umami taste.
