First Day Oregon Coast : Ashland to Lincoln City

We left hotel around 9ish as soon as we finished our breakfast and checked out. The weather was not friendly for road trip at all. It's grey with continuous drizzle from the time we started breakfast all the way to the time we drove out of the hotel lot.

The plan was to make it to Seaside for lunch at Mo's. But then just as we started I saw another different route suggested by Google. This route will bring us to the coastal highway more to the south than the original route that we planned. And that's perfect since we wanted to check out Oregon Coast so might as well start from the south.

This new route uses route 138 which is very close to Sutherlin. I sort of know that the route would be one lane with opposite traffic. But with the weather condition far from good I was a bit worry. My worry was baseless because the route was soo quiet. The view was amazing though. Even in the greyness and short of sunlight the landscape was very green.

There was a Mo's Seafood and Chowder restaurant at Florence as well which is south of Seaside our original location. That's a better location so we could enjoy earlier lunch at 2 instead of 4!😂

After lunch we continued along the coastal highway. By then the clouds were gone and it's blue sky everywhere. What a change ! Our first stop was Sea Lion Caves. We didn't go down to the caves but wanted to stop for a chance to see the coastal line and took some photos.

Our planned next stop was Yaquina Head Light. Unfortunately by the time we got there it's passed 6 pm and it's closed already. So sad. I was looking forward to it. We went down the next stop I had on my list which was Vista Street Scenic View Area. This stop was pretty interesting as it's not exactly a tourist area. In fact it was someone's backyard. But the view was amazing so if you have time do swing by. Parking could be tricky though as it's residential area.

Another stop that I was intrigued and had it listed down was a restaurant called The Cheeky Cauldron. If you're a Potter Head, you would recognize the name as a play on word of The Leaky Cauldron. Too bad by the time we got to Lincoln City where this restaurant is located it's already closed for the day.
