We found this chicken rice place on FB as being reviewed by a traveler. Seeing that it's in town and pretty close by we decided to give it a try. It was on Jan 2 when we went there. The parking there was a bit tricky. It's located very close to Wang Come hotel so it's really close to downtown and Chiang Rai clock tower.
After circling passed one time and couldn't find a parking spot, we went back the second time. This time we spotted one close by to the restaurant. As we got out of the car, a man asked our friend where we were going. When the restaurant name mentioned, he let us go. Mean while we saw a foreigner also parked just a spot further away from ours. I saw him giving cash to the man who just talked to our friend. Not sure why there was money being exchanged. 😕
The restaurant had outdoor seating and indoor as well. Since it was a nice day and not too hot we decided to sit outside. Though our table later on was a bit under the sun due to sunlight that came through a bit sideway.
We ordered from the menu and waited while looking at our surrounding. The restaurant looked new and the menu looked new too. We were hopeful that the food should be pretty good.
After we ordered I noticed the family who sat close to us just received their food. They were there when we walked in. I had a feeling that our food would take longer than usual. And I was right. It took at least twenty minutes before we received our orders.
I don't understand why it took that long because the chicken should be precooked already and only needed to be cut and placed together with rice. We did order shumai which most likely should already be in the steamer. Yes there was fried chicken for our chicken rice order but again they didn't have a big menu. 😒
Taste wise was fine. Nothing too special. Shumai was small but the taste was just fine compared to other place we've been to. The rice was okay and a bit on the bland side. The chicken was not very seasoned as well. The chicken did go well with the chili sauce provided.
