Suki-Ya - Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

Do not mistaken this one as Sukiya another Japanese chain restaurant that serves fast food. The Google reviews got a lot of mixed up with people posting their reviews for both restaurants under Suki-Ya. That got me thinking that Sukiya, the fast food restaurant actually offers buffet. So we went over there and it didn't look like it. So after checking out Paradigm Mall site, I realized that those two Sukiya and Suki-Ya are different restaurants.

Suki-Ya, with a hyphen, is a Japanese style hot pot buffet restaurant. You can check the menu and pricing at the website I included here. I think we paid about RM49 (USD 10.96). I think it's still a good deal if comparing to US prices. But compare to the amount which we normally spend at kopitiam (average RM 12/person) then this price is completely a splurge.

Surprisingly when we went there on a Thursday afternoon, the place was packed. We got lucky and got our table immediately. But once we finished we saw a long line outside the restaurant. And these people looked like office workers. Do they actually have such a long lunch hour ? 😅

When we were seated, we straight away received a menu. it showed what type of broth available. We chose one kimuchi and one shabu-shabu. Then we were pointed to the meat available. I felt that we were rushed as we did not have a chance to "understand" the menu. But the workers there were busy milling around so I guess they are efficient.

We put in the order for the broth and the first round of meat. We got three trays of beef, two trays of lamb and two trays of chicken. That should get us busy for a while. Meanwhile we went and grab our own veggies and others. Surprisingly there were lots of items available. I loved the mushroom selections, tofu skin selections and vegetables. 

There was also meat patties made of mixture of beef and lamb. Pretty good. I also loved the selection of items available to put together killer sauce ! Imagine having green onion, cilantro, ponzu sauce, minced garlic, minced onion, minced chili. The possibilities are endless.😍

Not to mention some sushi roll, cut fruits and ice cream. I think it has good value. Just make sure you exercise first before going there to get more appetite ! 😂
