Sui Sha Ya Metrotown - Burnaby, Canada

We went to this restaurant on a Friday night so the place was pretty busy. But the host quickly ushered us to a table towards the back of the restaurant. Surprisingly the place was pretty big even though it didn't seem so from the entrance.

We got one of those booth seatings that felt like seating in tatami room due to the cushions provided on the wooden bench. The menus were given and then the green tea was served before we even ordered it. I was wondering if it was written on our faces that we wanted green tea. But that was perfect since that was on my mind. The only thing was the green tea wasn't as potent as I wanted to be.

Just like the other Japanese restaurant in Metrotown (Kawawa), Sui Sha Ya also offers All You Can Eat (AYCE) menu. But that night we didn't feel like having buffet since we were not in the capacity to eat a lot. LOL

We ordered katsudon (deep fried pork cutlet with egg, etc), chicken teriyaki, spicy agedashi tofu, spicy squid, dragon roll and yam tempura. The katsudon came in a big bowl with all the rice underneath it. Those rice would have been enough for the four of us since that day we just wanted something light. But we also ordered another bowl of rice so I ended pretty stuffed.

Most of the dishes we ordered that night were perfect.  The chicken teriyaki was crunchy on the outside and moist inside. The spicy agedashi tofu had the right spiciness. The yam tempura was sweet and cooked thoroughly without crunchiness that sometimes happened when it's not cooked through. The only thing that I wouldn't order again was the spicy squid. I thought it would be grilled squid but it was more like poached squid served on spicy teriyaki sauce.
