Noodle Hut - Milpitas

Found this place while looking for a place for lunch in the Milpitas area. It seemed relatively new and pretty interesting so I was curious to give it a try.

By the time we got there was around 2 so it was pretty empty. Just another 2 more tables occupied. But I saw a sign on sheet by the door so it was most likely busy earlier. We ordered a Phnom Penh noodle and mekatang. Since I was hungry I ordered a round bread thinking I could chew on it while waiting for our orders. But the bread actually came out after our noodles had arrived.

For our Phnom Penh noodle we asked for small egg noodle. I think the small noodle absorb the sauce and goes better with the toppings. The toppings consisted of minced pork, sliced pork, prawns, pork liver, thinly sliced pork stomach and tons of fried garlic. If you are not used to pork liver and stomach you may want to stir away from this noodle. I loved the chewiness of the pork stomach but next time I would request to not include the pork liver. Can't get used to the smell of it. Our noodle came dry with a bowl of soup on the side. We were also served bean sprout to be dunked into the soup.

The mekatang was a stir fry rice noodle dish which we found very similar to the Thai rad na. That was our first time trying mekatang and we loved the slight burnt smell of the dish. For stir fry dishes seem not complete without this smell. The mekatang came with chinese broccoli (gai lan), thinly sliced carrot and thinly sliced pork. The sauce was a nice brown caramel color. It has a combination of saltiness with a hint of sweet.

The round bread was served warm which would have been nice if only we had it prior to getting our noodles. It's a bit sweet and fragrant. The texture was like a deep fried bread that I used to have growing up in Indonesia.
